Harland Duman: CSS

code Jul 19, 2020

One of the first skills for any web developer learns is how to use CSS - or cascading style sheets - to change the look of elements on a web page. GPT-3 can generate this code from a natural language description, without even giving it an example!

I tried this with, it must be said, mixed results - whether it was quicker than using one of the many visual no-code web development tools available now is up for debate. It seems more useful for generating very short snippets, describing a single element's style, than more complex tasks–it might well be a good alternative to Google & StackOverflow when you can't remember how to achieve a certain effect which, let's face it, happens to us all every day of coding.

We'll hopefully see this feature creeping into some web development IDEs soon!
